Pros and Cons

Mom keeps telling me it's time for a new blog post. The problem is sometimes you really don't have that much to say. I mean the world doesn't really care to know that you spent the day cleaning, cooking, sleeping or working out. Those are just everyday mundane things that are a part of life. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it. My job provides me with plenty of excitement, so much in fact, I find myself wishing for the regular routine most people loathe. I think I wouldn't really mind that 9-5 office job. The predictability of knowing when you'll take your lunch break or absolutely scheduling dinner with friends at 7 p.m. I guess it's a good thing friends and dinner outings have been hard to come by in Idaho Falls cause I probably couldn't make it anyway.

The flip side (and there's always a flip side) is this. I really don't think I could ever be happy at an office job. I mean yes, I would get to take lunch breaks and be out the door by 5 p.m. everyday but the problem with predictability is that it eventually gets old. Then I wouldn't get to see the swat team take apart a bomb, interview the governor, ride upside down in a really cool airplane, watch lawyers and judges fight for justice, farmers bring in the best crops they've had in a decade, communities provide food for the hungry or see high-school students stand in the gap for their teachers. Of course those are only the good things I see, but that's okay. Every job has it's ups and downs. I figure for now at least, I'll stick with mine.
